5. Halloween Film Festival (Letchworth Broadway Cinema) - 19th - 30th October
Fan of a scary movie?
Broadway Cinema in Letchworth is running a special Halloween film festival where you can watch classic spooky flicks including The Exorcist, Poltergeist, The Lost Boys and Mandy.
For children there’s also Casper and Hocus Pocus (these ones are more my level of scariness to be fair…)
6. Autumn Pumpkin Arrangement Workshop (Garden House Hospice Depot, Letchworth) 24th October
Love those pretty Autumnal decorations you keep seeing on Instagram? This is your chance to make your own.
In this one-off workshop hosted by the Garden House Hospice’s Upcycling team, you will create unique Halloween themed decorations including pumpkins, flowers and foliage.

7. Oktoberfest (Baldock Community Centre) 25th - 26th October
Last year I went along to Baldock’s version of Oktoberfest with some friends, and I have to say it was sooo much fun!
It’s in a community centre setting, so not the most glamorous - and if you have specific dietary requirements the food might not be your bag - bavarian style hot dogs, saucraute and basically lots of meat and carbs!
That said, it was super entertaining! There was a proper “oompah” band as well as another really talented local musician, a raffle and a brilliant atmosphere.
I can’t make it this year as we are going away for the week of October half term but I would thoroughly recommend it if you fancy a good old knees-up!
8. Fireworks at the Cricketers (The Cricketers, Weston) - 2nd November
There are a variety of fireworks nights on this year, with some taking place during the week and even the following weekend (8th/9th November), but this event at Weston looks like it will be an absolute banger! (Pun entirely intended.)
There will be 2 bbqs, a hog roast, sweets and toys and funfair rides for children.
